Underwater Construction and Rehabilitation

Underwater Concrete Repair:

  • We have extensive experience in addressing leakage in hydraulic and water conveying structures. This type of work requires an understanding of water pressure and its damaging effects. It is our job to permanently seal cracks, undermining as well as construction and expansion joints. We combining the use of specialized hydrophilic caulks and chemicals, epoxy, and cement-based materials.

Underwater Welding and Burning:

  • Many of our divers are skilled in underwater welding, allowing us to respond quickly to any welding or burning needs. Glenn Underwater Services has developed a program to increase efficiency and safety while meeting all Quality Assurance requirements. This reduces time on site as well as costs as we have no need to expedite specialized personnel from another location. Our underwater welding experts are certified by Loyd’s Register and have a depth of experience working worldwide.

Inspections:

  • We provide a broad range of underwater inspection and data collection services, using a variety of sophisticated technologies to record images and data. All inspections are programmed and performed under strict controls that ensure accurate and repeatable data.

Non-destructive Testing:

  • GUS uses advanced technology to perform non-destructive testing above and below the waterline. Our equipment and procedures are deployed by experienced divers and remotely operated vehicles. Exact data location, proper collection and organization are key to performing long-term life-cycle analysis of any structure.

Mechanical Installations:

  • Our mechanical services allow us to perform underwater installations and repairs within very exacting tolerances while working in water depths exceeding 200-feet and with limited visibility. Our divers posses the depth of mechanical and mathematical skills to properly install, align, anchor gates, valves, stems, guides, etc. Utilizing 3-D imagery increases onsite understanding of equipment and components, reducing time onsite and costs.

Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV’s)

Remotely Operated Vehicles and Equipment:

Have projects in locations where water depths are problematic or in remote areas? Our Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV’s) for underwater inspection are a cost effective solution.

Glenn Underwater Services provides ROV’s uniquely suited for lengthy penetrations (up to 3000 feet), accessing confined spaces and areas of limited visibility, and where you need defect mapping of large surface areas.

Robotic inspection equipment used by GUS is compact and easy to transport to remote locations throughout the world. ROV’s can carry the same instrumentation that allow for inspection, target acquisition, imaging, and navigation including:

  • Multiple beam sonar with a 120 degree, 360 feet range
  • High definition pan-tilt video cameras that continuously record all visuals, producing video stills and video clips of the inspection
  • Laser measuring system for checking pipe ovality
  • Ultrasonic thickness measuring equipment
  • Acoustical positioning
  • Actuator arm with 100 lb. grasping and manipulation capability

GUS provides a broad range of underwater and terrestrial inspection services, utilizing a variety of sophisticated digital technologies to record images and data for clients around the globe on:

  • Hydroelectric dams
  • Power plants – Nuclear, Fossil and Gas
  • Reservoirs
  • Bridges, piers and terminals

Our specialized services include the following:

  • Sluice gate repairs, replacement, and inspections
  • Gate valve replacement and repairs
  • Intake and outfall gate structure repairs and replacements
  • Replacement of seal, guides, and stems

Leak Detection & Sealing

Glenn Underwater Services is a global provider of underwater and subterranean leak detection, leak sealing, and concrete repair.  Using diver technicians, remotely operated vehicles (ROV’s), and cutting-edge technologies, we have set industry standards providing our clients with safe, innovative, and cost-effective solutions to leak sealing.

Wherever water is being transferred for industrial applications, power generation, and cooling there is potential for leaks to occur.  They become more prevalent as systems age. Leaks can occur anywhere in a system, quite often reducing efficiency, propagating additional damage and accelerating leaks.

Storm water drains running under processing facilities can develop leaks, allowing contaminated groundwater to infiltrate pipe joints and flow into rivers and lakes.  Leaking scroll cases in hydroelectric dams cause a loss of efficiency during electric generation and subsequent problems as hydroelectric turbine components are worn down.

Through many years of experience in the hydroelectric, nuclear, and fossil industry, Glenn Underwater Services has developed cutting- edge processes for precisely detecting and effectively remediating water leakage.  They have been successfully used in subterranean, underwater and surface applications.

Our extensive experience in leak detection and leak sealing provides the client with a thorough assessment of the problem and viable solutions to remediate the problem. Using advanced techniques and modern materials such as eco-friendly hydrophilic caulks, epoxy, and cementitious-based materials, Glenn Underwater Services can typically perform leak detection and permanent leak sealing without a major shutdown of the process or facility.

Nuclear and Fossil Decommissioning

Across the globe, nuclear and fossil-based utility plants are being abandoned due to new EPA regulations and the aging of facilities.  Glenn Underwater Services, LLC has the experience to meet this growing need; turnkey solutions that allow abandonment of facilities underwater without posing risks to the environment while simultaneously addressing the above water mechanisms and reducing impact on schedules.  The availability of engineering service in-house also allows us to be economical strategic with our efforts as well as highly safety conscious.

We make these statements with confidence because our internal Quality Control program sets the standard of service delivery at the highest level of achievement This coupled with the level of experience that exists among our staff allows our clients peace of mind that we are committed to working safely, providing quality service, while being cognizant of the importance of the environment.
